The Jeffrey Epstein Files

As we begin the New Year, I must admit that I am fatigued by the continuing saga and drama of the Jeffrey Epstein Files. But before delving into the topic of the Jeffrey Epstein Files, I would like to share a brief review of Mr. Epstein’s criminal record.

The public record shows that in 2008 Mr. Epstein plead guilty in Florida to two state charges: Procuring a minor for prostitution and soliciting a prostitute. Florida Police and the FBI had identified dozens of girls, some as young as 14 who had allegedly been sexually molested by Mr. Epstein. He served approximately 13 months in jail of an 18-month sentence. He was given generous work release privileges and was required to register as a sex offender in Florida and New York. His plea deal was roundly criticized for its leniency.

The public record further reflects that in July 2019 Mr. Epstein was arrested in New York and indicted on federal charges for sex trafficking of minors and conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of minors. While awaiting trial, he was incarcerated at the Metropolitan Correctional Center and was found dead in his jail cell on August 10, 2019. His cause of death was determined to be suicide by hanging.

I think most observers of Mr. Epstein’s life would conclude that his great wealth and connections served him well in avoiding legal accountability for his heinous criminal conduct with minor young women for many years and then receiving quite lenient treatment in his state plea deal in Florida. Many may lament that his suicide effectively removed his exposure to the federal charges brought against him in New York.

I would argue that while the assessment of leniency for Mr. Epstein for state and federal charges may be accurate, it is an incomplete story from an eternal perspective. In the Gospel of Luke Chapter 17:1-2 Jesus details the eternal consequences for any individual who causes underage children to sin. Jesus says it would be much better for any such individual to have a millstone tied around his neck and be cast in the sea. So, the long and the short of it is that while Mr. Epstein may have largely avoided justice in this life, that will not be the case for eternity. Scripture makes clear that there is a place called Hell and everything in Mr. Epstein’s evil life tells me that is where he will spend eternity. But far be it from news media sources to discuss Mr. Epstein’s fate from an eternal perspective.

We now see in both the legacy news media and even in conservative media sources a continual discussion and speculation regarding the content of the Epstein criminal files. Recent disclosures from the Epstein Files reveals that Bill Gates, Bill Clinton, Donald Trump, and Larry Summer were all friends and associates at one time with Jeffrey Epstein. To be sure, nothing has been revealed in the Epstein files to suggest the commission of any crime by any of these men, but their past association with Mr. Epstein certainly reflects poorly upon them for their choice of friends. All of the men referenced above must own their bad choice for association with Mr. Epstein.

What I find most frustrating in this experience is the time, money, and resources spent on the Jeffrey Epstein matter at the expense of and to the detriment of far more important public policy issues facing our nation such as healthcare and health insurance. The fact that rich, powerful and well-connected individuals such as Jeffrey Epstein can delay temporal legal accountability for their crimes is indeed shameful and sad, but by no means a novel development in our nation. Mr. Epstein is dead and thankfully his estate is now being held financially accountable to many of the known victims of his wicked deeds. Is it now possible for certain glory seeking members of Congress such as Margorie Taylor Green from Georgia (thankfully retiring  from Congress in early 2026) and Thomas Massey from Kentucky (hopefully to be defeated in the May 2026 Republican Primary for Congress in Kentucky) to stand down from their ostentatious perch on the Jeffrey Epstein stage and turn their attention to working diligently to solve the healthcare and health insurance challenges facing our nation? This type of work may not enable them to pontificate on nightly cable news programs, but I can assure them that their hard-working constituents who need improved health insurance options would be far better served if they did.

God bless you and thank you for the privilege of your time in reading my blog.
